Andy didn't tell the whole story. I bought an 85 MR2 from a friend who got
two "over 100" tickets in the same week. His insurance company made him
sell the car. I let Andy take it to North Texas for school. He and his
roommate did some wild things in it, and his roommate missed a curve and hit
a culvert at high speed. He crumpled the right front and left rear of the
MR2 as he cartwheeled through a ditch. Not all Cop Stories have happy
endings. Luckily, the roommate and his passenger survived.
One of the reasons I autocross is to practice high speed manuvers without
large unmovable objects in the way. Andy and I hope to autocross his
Roadster this weekend in Mineral Wells. He has the KA24 in it and it should
be a bit stronger and lighter. We may need to go up a size or two on tires
to keep it stuck to the pavement. Come out and visit if you're in the area.
Or drive out from California if you have a long weekend.
