IIRC the Yellow was the "ORIGINAL" and the Black was the "New and Improved" in
the early 80's.
Where the yellow has a noticeable color change as it dries, the black only has
a subtle gloss sheen loss. Depending on what and where you were adhering, the
adhesive needs to be in various stages of "set". Used in one fashion and you
can apply the item, and be able to remove it later, used in another and either
you lifted the paint or tore the item, it would adhere so strongly. One way
you had a little bit of "wiggle" room, the other way was instant stick.
