If you hit "reply to all" then the sender of the original message will get a
direct copy and get another copy from the list server. It might be a glitch
where you are listed in the (to) line and in the (cc) line of the original
message and end up getting three or more copies of the reply.
Another problem is if your e-mail server does not finish downloading all the
incoming messages before you time out or have some other software glitch. The
next time you send/receive you will get all the messages again even though you
already received some before.
It isn't too far fetched to beleive that the major is having some problems. It
happens occasionally.
