Mike,
Great info you provided there. Thank you!!!
Have your impact wrench and a BFH (Big F'n Hammer) ready when you do the
fronts. Those bolts holding together the hub tend to be TIGHT!!!! A
hydraulic press is in my "tools wish list". Maybe Santa will bring me one
this year (He's stronger than the Easter Bunny and a press won't fit in my
Easter basket). :-)

Subject: [Roadsters] Short Panasport studs - Update

Just wanted to give the list and all those who replied to help, an update. I
found longer studs (1 3/4") that fit and provide me with a full 3/4" of
thread
tightening with the 15" Panasports I bought. The nuts still have ample
space
left so they won't bottom out. So far I'd say the length is perfect, at
least
on the axle. They're listed for the ' 60 to ' 82 Corvette and ' 67 to ' 69
Camaro.

Here are some specs I researched if they might be useful to anyone:

Nissan Stud Part # 40221-14600 Stud length 1.277" Knurl Dia. - .468
Knurl length - .25"
Dist. from head to end of knurl - .34" Shoulder length - .5" Shoulder
Dia.
- .45" Thread length - .75

Moser part #8259 7/16-20 x 1/3/4" ('60 to '82 Corvette, '67 to '69 Camaro)
Jegs, Summit, Moser Engineering

Dorman #610-259 ('60 to '82 Corvette, '67 to '69 Camaro)
Specifications:
Head Code: 259
Knurl Diameter: .475 in
Thread Pitch: Right
Shoulder Length: 27/64 in
Thread Size: 7/16-20
Length: 1-3/4 in
Type: Serrated Stud
Features: Zinc plated for corrosion resistance

I didn't have to pull the axle but it still took 3 hours, not too bad.
Tommorow the fronts!
