If the backfire is out the exhaust, this is a symptom of running too rich
during
overrun (after lifting off the throttle). If backfiring through the
carbs, it's
too lean.

[Roadsters] highspeed backfire

Several weeks ago my 70 1600 (w GB/ dizzy)
started to backfire, once
very very loud, at highspeed, when I take my foot
off the gas pedal. A
buddy's 70 1600 (reg dizzy) does the same thing just not
as loud as mine
does.

What could be causing this?

Thanks

Tim
