Another thought, I remember that the thin metal disc shaped backing plate
with the tab had a habit of losing its bond with the pad material. Usually
never realized it until you went to pull the pads. Without pressure on the
brakes there could be enough space for it to vibrate. More useless facts: I
recall that besides the Jaguar the pads were also used on the original
Studebaker Avanti.

I did apply disc brake quiet the the backs of the pads and that did help a
bit, but did not resolve completely.
