I actually experienced that, too.  only for me it was random dying, wait, it 
would run.  then it got worse and finally quit running

I concur with Gordon.  On the way to Road Atlanta, points came loose with
similar symptoms.  A hot, nerve wrecking 1/2 hour in heavy Chattanooga TN
traffic.
