Triumph Friends & Vintage Racers

<Short version...Linda has the long version...just ask...she loved it>

After months of planning and some preparation the 5000+ mile adventure
is completed. The family Triumph (TR3A) is now a "coast to coast"
veteran, albeit in two stages. Last year it was Canada & New York. This
year it was Washington & British Columbia.

Wonderful trip...special thanks to Jerry Liudahl (Purple Lips Racing)
for the Eugene, Oregon Tour.

At SIR, saw Jerry Larson's Rubber Chicken Racing Alfa next to Ted
Boskovich's Austin Healey, but didnt see Mr. Larson (his car has a
rubber chicken hanging from the lower lip of the deck lid). Saw fellow
VSCDA member Augie Papst and fellow SVRA member Vic Edelbrock (some name
dropping here).

SIR is a great track and the racing seems to be low key and consistent
with Vintage Spirit.

Didnt make it to Penticton, B.C. and regret not meeting Len Drake at the
big British Blowout there. (We accomplished all other objectives tho,
Len)

Of course the mountains, high desert, ocean, Victoria, Space Needle, ad
nausem, were all spectacular....but now on to the (former) Chicago
Historics.

I was promised a lot of rain...but it didnt happen. Top went on twice
for short periods. I went from "office palor" to "crispy" in a short
distance. I always do this on vacation so it was nothing new.

Problems you ask?...of course. Noting a drip from the 39 year old fuel
pump we elected to Fed-Ex rebuilt pump from shelf at home in Iowa. One
might ask why this was not installed prior to the trip...dont bother.
Self Infliction...but it did not hold up our schedule.

The next Triumph Adventure is planned for 1999. Quebec & Maine, eh?
