Friends of Triumph will be pleased to note the special representation at
the International Challenge (formerly Chicago Historics) at Road America
this last weekend.

Over 500 competition cars were registered and about 50,000 spectators
enjoyed the spectacle. My guess is that 50 tractor-trailer rigs were in
the paddock.

On Friday night a race-car-only concours was held on the downtown
streets of beautiful Elkhart Lake village. About 50 fine Porsches,
Ferraris, Loti and the like represented the sport and the street was
packed with an enthusiastic crowd.

Among the $50,000 to $250,000 cars, one stood out especially - uncle
jack's bright blue and white TR4, resplendent on a carpet of bright blue
astro turf. (talk about a silk purse out of a etc etc).

Immediately behind the car was a table of wine, cheese, and crackers,
with a sign reading "Refreshments courtesy of Friends of Triumph". The
Alexanders and Drewses, anonymous hosts, stood back and watched with
delight the reaction of the passerby -- we wondered if maybe a few of
them appreciated the tongue-in-cheek nature of the gesture...
