Just returned from Road America and then off to New Orleans tomorrow on
business.
Hopefully I didnt put you on the spot with my introduction...pretty civilized
group on this list. tho.
Need to continue on with prep for trip. Wish I could put together a more
comprehensive account of the weekend.
Great bunch and many FOT represented at Road America. Wonderful weekend with
great weather. Triumphant showing with the FOT racers and the Quadfest, a
multi-state convergence of TR owners. Wish you were here to join us.

Well, here's the thing. Obviously (?) you didn't see a whole lot of stories
which were on the internet earlier this year called 'Life at Triumph.' I
had to withdraw the site because somebody was doing something very
uncharitable with the material that was there. What I've now done is to
compile all the stories into a book. This is dualled with a 40 odd page
intro about my Dad who started work with the Standard Motor Company in
Coventry in 1921 - so Standard and Triumph are very much in the family.
I've also culled quite a large number of pictures (mostly black and white)
to pad out the whole thing. The manuscript paginated to 5 inches by 8
inches runs to about 200 pages. That's the good (?) news. The bad news is
that despite contacting every publisher I can find who specialises in this
sort of material, no-one wants to take the risk. It's arguable the
potential circulation is likely to be fairly small - so I've got to put the
ice-pack on my head and find a way round the problem.
Maybe VTR might like to catch a ball which could be thrown in its
direction? Hi, Andy, thanks for your note too.

An extremely ancient Herald Coupe which is in the very early stages of what
is looking like a tediously long restoration. There's also a Mk 3 Spitfire
and a GT6 Mk2 both of which are at my home in France, still very much in
their original paint, looking delightful and much loved.

Thanks for that. As some or all of FoT may know, I periodically contribute
to the Triumphs list - airing the dusty corridors of my memory in trying to
help people who have got stuck on projects. I'm happy to continue doing
that here as well, as the opportunity may arise. Incidentally, for those
Friends who haven't heard of me before (probably a lot) I work part-time at
the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon - mostly at weekends and we've got
plenty of Triumphs there for me to keep an eye on - including a Lynx
prototype.
