Bill,

Nice going... nice tribute to Bob (Whirling) Wismer. It fits nicely along side
of that piece of granite you planted in his honor, at Road America.

Regarding your remarks about me looking Scottish. "Alexander" IS Scottish
you know. The moniker arrived at some oddly strange alliances north of the
American border. Normal for the time, and situation, I suspect. Early 1800s.

I asked my father about my heritage once.

Of course there is no doubt about my mother's side. Totally Irish.

However my dad said as he laughed, that beyond the obvious "Frog" influence in
Quebec, there was some "Scottish" here, but also there may be some North
American Indian. This composition is called "French Canadian". And I am proud
of it.

In any case, it was a wonderful job you did honoring your great friend Bob
Wismer. You were clearly the most entertaining speaker at Bob's dinner. Of
course I am biased. A moment to be cherished. I was very glad to be there.

Joe Alexander

See at the Cocktail party in Chicago on the 6th.

Also...Welcome aboard new members of the FOT....We have some special plans and

Amici:

On Friday, January 29th, 1999, at Jumer's Castle Lodge, in Bettendorf, Iowa
a gala party was held to acknowledge and celebrate Bob Wismer's retirement
from Deere and Company. Actually this huge party was just one of several held
for Bob during January. When you are as Big a Deal as Bob was (Vice President
of Engineering) at Deere it takes more than one party, to recognize such an
event.

This one was a super party. Good food, adult beverages, and a gaggle of
speakers, who used a lot of fussy words and caused a lot of moist eyes. Bob
had it coming. He DONE GOOD, and everyone knew it.

In a room full of engineers, there was also a table reserved just for RACERS.
It included the likes of Joe Alexander, Don Brick, Jack Drews, yours truly
along with our ladies who all helped Bob and the others present celebrate.

Take a look at the attached picture. It's incredible. Uncle Jack Drews and
Joe Alexander are even starting to LOOK BRITISH. Jack especially. Joe looks
a little more Scottish. Course that might just be his temperament.

I should have attached a picture of the ladies. They were gorgeous.
