I get this sort of mail from time to time, as many others of you must as well...

I have no interest in the car, just passing it along. Contact
the seller directly, please. Move along, nothing to see here ...

Subject: TR3A restoration

Hi, Chris,

I have a 1961 TR3A (TS75578L) that I tricked up with a Kastner Stage D
engine, a J-type OD TR6 transmission, and did some suspension mods. Now,
though, it's seriously in need of restoration (only minor rust, but needs
bodywork/painting, seats/upholstery/interior, a 4.1 rear end in place of its
3.7, and general refurbishment due to having sat for several years (due only
to inattention, it still runs fine, engine is pristine, good for 100+k).

I don't have the time, energy, or inclination to do the restoration myself,
and prefer to sell it to someone who will fix it up and drive it.

3 questions: do you have any customers/friends who might be interested in
such a car? How much should I sell it for, as is? Given that the
engine/transmission are fine as they are, if I were to pay you or some other
shop to do the restoration, would the cost be far more than any sane person
would pay for it?

I can gladly provide more details about the car if you want, but I wanted to
keep the initial e-mail concise!

Regards,
David Finley
