I bought an aluminum sump from someone--or I should say, halfway bought
one--it arrived just fine. I meant to send the check long ago, but I can't
find the email and I don't remember who I bought it from. It's been an
absurdly busy summer--that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

BTW I took the Ducati to one of Reg Pridmore's CLASS schools at PIR on
Monday. Basically you get to blast around as fast as you can, and on a 916
that's pretty fast--especially for these old bones. I learned some new
things about the track--like for instance the back straight is not a
straight at all, but a very scary right turn that pushes you all the way to
the edge of the track at 140. I wonder what it's like for the Indy car
drivers. My car experience was a clear negative--the lines were all
wrong--until one of the instructors said "put your bike where the inside
wheel of your car would be". And it suddenly clicked. I think I'll be better
at switching back and forth now. My car instructors always complained that I
take a motorcycle line (tighter than a car line, counting more on brakes and
high acceleration) and the bike guys complain about my using all the track
to clip a late apex.
