Below are the results of a search I did on the virus e-mail. It is not
a true virus and should NOT be forwarded. www.icsa.net/services is a
good place to check out viruses and their related hoaxes.

              Name:
                          BUDDYLST.ZIP
              Type:
                          HOAX
              Host:
                          Na
              Platforms:
                          Seemingly all
              Origin:
                          Unknown
              Author:
                          Unknown
              Risk Rate
              (1-10) :
                          0 - Hoax
              Quick Notes :
                               hard drive will crash
                               False Authority Syndrome (Microsoft)
plea to pass on to everyone in your
                               addressbook

             Analysis :

             Introduction

A slight twist and mash of two different hoaxes : Bud Frogs
Screensaver + Return
Mail = Buddylst.zip (to target AOL IM users). There is a
slight warning to go along
with this hoax. AOL users have been plagued with password
trojans being emailed to
their accounts. Once executed, an email message is created
that contains their ID
and password, and it is sent off to some anonymous mailbox.

What this means is that while this particular message is a
hoax, there may well be a
BUDDYLST.ZIP file that is actually an AOL password trojan
program. Always be
aware of the potential risks of opening / executung email
attachments.

             Original Hoax Text

Someone is sending out a very desirable screen-saver, the
Budweiser Frogs
             BUDDYLST.ZIP"

If you download it, you will lose everything!!! Your hard
drive will crash and
someone from the Internet will get your screen name and
password!!

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES !!! IT
JUST WENT INTO CIRCULATION YESTERDAY, AS FAR AS WE
KNOW. PLEASE HELP TO DISTRIBUTE THIS MESSAGE.

This is a new, very malicious virus and not many people
know about it. This
information was announced yesterday morning from Microsoft.
Please share it with
everyone that might access the Internet. Once again, pass
this along to
EVERYONE in your address book so that this may be stopped.
Also do not
open or even look at any mail that says RETURNED OR UNABLE
TO
DELIVER". This virus will attach itself to your computer
components and render
them useless. Immediately delete mail items that say this.
AOL has said that this is
a very dangerous virus and that there is not remedy for it
at this time. Please
practice cautionary measures and forward this to all your
friends on line.
