Bill,
I didn't know about that history in VARA or the rule concerning the VW's. I 
remember running against that Beetle at Tustin a couple of years ago. I 
thought I'd get him on the back straight every lap and would have if it had 
been a half-mile longer. That was no standard 1300 engine! 

The Ghia driver I mentioned to Joe ran the car (listed as a '64) at 
Buttonwillow in October in a combined FP/GP group. He/She seemed to have some 
trouble getting out of his/her own way, tho. VARA must have had a change of 
heart in this case.
