For those who haven't been in touch with Carol and Kent, this is just to let
you know they
haven't yet sustained injury or worse from driving 'on the wrong side of the
road.' What's
more, the TR looks in fine fettle and displayed visible relief at being 'back
home again.'
Nic and I had a most enjoyable evening with them last Friday, together with
Glenn and Sean
Merrell in a pub - where else? They visited T.I.M.E. (and didn't have to swim
to or from
it) and left my home earlier today en route for Gaydon and Warwick Castle. Kent
visited
HMC on Saturday - but forgot his camera !!!!!!!! so has to return for unique
pics. They're
off down to Portsmouth tonight to team up with the Stags doing a goodwill tour
of Europe
but return to the UK in about a week as the TR is booked on a return boat.
I think Kent might have felt slightly insulted when I signed a book for him
which
suggested his car was powered by a tractor engine. If I did, I'm sorry - but he
had an
opportunity this morning to see one of those engines in a 1948 Ferguson and
photographed
it alongside the TR. He's also seen and touched a genuine Standard Triumph
workbench (ex
Coventry and used for Mosquito aircraft construction) handled Dad's old toolbox
and seen
some of his original service tools from the early 1920's. Hopefully, today has
been an
enjoyable history lesson.
Oh yes - he also sat in 'Canley Girl'. When you come here next year Joe, while
Kent has
already sat in it and marvelled at its sumptuous comfort (lump of firewood by
the
accelerator notwithstanding) you'll hopefully be the first to ride in it when
its
finished. There are still two more seats anxious to offer their unrivalled
comfort for FOT
