I did some corner working for a Shelby event at LimeRock this year they
had the same sort of system where some of the groups were full race (real
Shelbys only please) and then touring groups which anything with a Ford
badge was let on the track, including an Explorer (Roush conversion) and a
Crown Vic wagon. Put these on the track with not so experianced Cobra kit
and Mustang racer wanabees and tell them to only pass on the straight. It
didn't work well. We actually had stop and go trafic at some points.
Now the Ferrari club event I did there was a different story, a much
smaller (and richer) group, and any slower drivers were helped by
instructors. But it was organized much the same with full race and touring
groups.
