It was a few years ago at a local race that my TR 4 gearbox cracked during
the race--I didn't know it at the time but, all the oil leaked out. I was
probably racing "full-on" on no oil for a few laps. It was only the last
lap that the gearbox didn't feel right. When I came in and looked at
things I could not even get near the gear case it was so hot. No oil, gears
were blued. We rebuilt the gearbox using those gears. I used those close
ratio gears for two or three races until I could get another set.
