Hi Gang

Weepers are areas on circuits where water or damp patches seep up to the
surface in patches on an otherwise dry circuit. We had no rain at all the
whole week end it was super weather, but heavy rain the week before caused the
problem at Rockingham. The 'wet patches' (calm down Bill Damdinger) were
appearing right in the groove in areas of the turns (not uncommon in the
States on Ovals). As racers will appreciate, Oval racing has to be run on a
bone dry circuit. With cars cornering at over 200mph, and the loads involved
on a banked corner, you only have to put a tyre on even a damp patch and your
into the outer retaining wall (no run off areas on Ovals just concrete walls).
They had six dryers (jet engines mounted on trucks so the exhausts pointed at
the track surface) working the whole weekend to sort the problem out. Drivers
finally practised at about 11 on the last day and the race started at about
4.45 it was awesome.

Best wishes

Paul
