Here's what I've put together for the last pre-Mid-Ohio From USA column in
Triumph World magazine. Hope I got it right this time. If you missed the
April/May issue, you missed seeing my reference to the cinema classic,
Chopper Chicks in Zombietown.

Last time I mentioned that the much ballyhooed Mid-Ohio all-Triumph race
would be on Saturday, June 15. Yes, you guessed, it is back to Sunday,
tentatively scheduled for 1:30 pm. A Triumph practice session and photo
shoot is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Friday. This should be followed by an
informal gathering at the FoT (Friends of Triumph) tent in the southeast
paddock area. If it is raining, this area is generally referred to as the
bog or the swamp. Hint: bring mosquito repellent.
We are currently expecting around 50 racing Triumphs from North America and
eight from the UK. US FoT coordinator, Joe Alexander, has proclaimed this to
be, "a once in a lifetime event for some of us geezers."
In addition to the racers another 600 or so street Triumphs are anticipated.
For Saturday's British car show these will be parked in a special location
and concours awards will be handed out by the folks from Mid-Ohio. On both
Saturday and Sunday Triumph owners will be at the front of a parade lap
during the lunch break.
At Mid-Ohio no special credentials are needed to enter the racer's paddock,
so it is possible to rub elbows with driver's, crews and possibly Grand
Marshal, Kas Kastner or other Triumph luminaries. Feel free to look me up,
as well; I'll be located due south of this area -- on high ground. Look for
the big blue 4 x 4 Ford F350 dually.
By next time the Mid-Ohio weekend will be a memory, and if the weather
cooperates and I don't ventilate another crankcase, a fond memory.
Hopefully, we won't have to wait for ten more years for Triumph to be
featured race marque somewhere else.
