The same thing happened to mine. I put in new pins where needed and the welded
the pins as well as the tubes to the center section. I have been told by
another lister that the center section in cast steel and that it handles
welding fine. So far I have not had any problems as a result of my welding it.

I was stripping down my rear axle this weekend and found out that one
of the axle casing tubes is coming loose. The three retaining pins are
loose in the center casing and the tube is only moving in rotation
about 5 degrees total. The tube is not moving in and out of the center
casing. Can the center casing holes and the tube holes be enlarged and
the retaining pins replaced with larger diameter pins?

Thumbs Up
