Longer is almost always better.  a ratio of 2:1 (rod :stroke)
is just beginning to be good.  2.25 - 3 is not rare in race motors.
Added dwell at TDC is a good thing.  Smoky  Yunick wrote
reams on this subject.  The added rod weight is a trade of.
and in drag racing is sort of an issue.  Opposite ends are
Bonneville and long oval and road courses.   decreased
tdc loads and ability to make same powere at lower rpm
offset the weight issue.  race engine builder rule #1:
use the longest rod you can squeeze into the motor.
