The part I found especially interesting was that Goodyear had already
discovered the necessity of the belt caps on Explorers, and apparently lost
the contract with Ford because they were not willing to supply tires without
them.  Firestone, it seems, had no problem with supplying tires as cheap as
Ford was willing to pay for ...

Don't mean to start a debate over whose fault it was this time, but it sure
makes me disinclined to buy from either of them.  I wonder how long it will
take Bridgestone to realize they got sold a bill of goods ... and either
drop the Firestone name entirely or sell it off to some other sucker.
