This brings up a topic I have not seen discussed. I would like to tap
the collected wisdom of the lists:

I have triple Webbers on a TR6. It is under rebuild [it is winter after
all]. One of the modifications I have made is to add a two sheet
aluminum baffle under the carbs to both shield them from the exhaust
pipes, and to provide a place for colder air. I have added a vent to
the grill and a 3" pipe to push air to the front edge of the carbs on
top of the baffle. Now the question:
Will adding louvers over the carb intakes help suck cool air through the
vent? Would I achieve the same thing by just keeping the hood open an
inch [I was thinking of doing this and do have the safety catches in
hand. An engineer friend said that would do no good because of the
"dead area" at the base of the windshield].

Would appreciate any comments.

Randy,

Andy is correct. In searching for a place to do
louvers, check out your local speed shop for
a recommended shop. The hot rod crowd uses
louvered panels quite a bit.

Ironically as to your search, I do have a louvered TR-3
hood that I obtained about 15 years ago. It's not
for sale. The louvers on the hood were clearly done
after the hood was manufactured.

Cheers,
Bill Sohl

TRs. I suspect your best bet is to find a shop in your area who can make
whatever louvers you want in an existing hood.
