Over on one of the other Triumph lists, we've been having a discussion about
compression ratios and cylinder volumes. There has been a question raised
that I thought I would bring to this list for a more definitive answer. In
the Triumph TR-250/TR-6 Competition Prep Manual, page 14, there is a
paragraph that reads:

"The cylinder head gasket, when compressed, has a volume of approximately
3.7 cc. The finished cylinder head with valves seated should have a volume
of 41.6 cc for 10.25 C.R. with zero deck clearance. The cylinder volume for
12.3 to 1 C.R. with zero deck clearance is 33 cc."

The question is: Do the cylinder head volumes quoted in the paragraph (41.6
cc and 33 cc) include the referenced 3.7 cc for the head gasket? (or is that
added onto the quoted volumes?)

Thanks,
