My best was 1:46 something, but that was probably a fluke. Mostly I did 1:48
something. The best I saw for the Kastner/Brophy Vitesse with Mark Thomas
driving was 1:45 something, and it was the fastest Triumph, and actually the
fastest car in the MG/TR challenge, though one of the MG V8's beat him to
the flag. Remarkable car, and a fine driver. I didn't think he had anything
for Peyote in the practice, but he fooled me. I thought I had a lot of top
end on him since he seemed to hit a wall half way down the straight in
qualifying. I assumed he was just pushing too much air. Didn't seem to be a
problem in the actual race--I believe he might have been sandbagging. Or at
least being nice to his motor. As I recall Kas said the motor was good for
290 HP--is that right Kas?

The only time sheet I have with me is for the Group 3 feature race. The
winner was a Lotus 23C with a 1800 cc motor that did a 1:38.808 followed by
five (FIVE!) Porsche 914/6's and a two liter 911. Best of that group was
1:40.466 to 1:45.442. Then the Vitesse at 1:46.276, then a two liter Porsche
911 at 1:46.285, a Datsun 240Z at 1:46.012, then Peyote at 1:48.422, then
another Datsun 240Z at 147.114. Hmmm, might I have been blocking a bit??
Followed by about 29 other Porsches, Lotus 23's, XKE's. Elva MkVIs, 240Z's,
etc.

Felt pretty good about that race since I was banging and scraping in a lot
of corners and skidding around on those lame blue streaks. Still kicking
myself about that dumb tire fire drill.

I think the best TR3 time was bout 1:51 something, but I could be wrong.
Don't know about the TR4's or Spits.
