The chairman of the military "Joint Chief of Staff" has a four year term of
position.  What happens to them after they leave the highest level of
military leadership?
Do they retire?

just a thought...

How about a lateral move to public life as the Director of FEMA.  I can
think of about 2 dozen reasons why this would be a good thing.

To be certain ---the rigors and duties of Arabian Horse Society director or
somesuch just doesn't seem to have the needed credentials for this role.
