News flash this morning - Janet Guthrie will be inducted into the
Motor Racing Hall of Fame, along with Dale Earnhart.
Ms. Guthrie started her racing career in SCCA, racing among other
things a Jag XK and a Toyota, which still exists as raced by her. She
went on to race at INDY and NASCAR where, in her first race, she
qualified immediately behind Dale Earnhart.
Ms. Guthrie was a guest at a vintage race at Road America this year,
where she was signing her autobiography, "A Life at Full Throttle" --
a recommended read. It has the best word description of the actual
racing experience that I've read.
Congratulations, Janet -- well deserved!
