Easier, IMO, to look for the large circular bulge on the side. The crash box
doesn't have it.

That would make it early TR4, like 1962. It's a weaker case than the later
boxes, somewhat prone to crack around the flange in my experience. I think
there's still a case in my junk pile with the flange broken away.
