Thank you for the nomination into the FoT.
My names David Hesse and I currently reside in Portage WI. I've been playing
with British cars since I was 8 years old, so I guess it's been a 34 year love
affair with these little beasts. I started by helping my father restore a 52
MGTD, which is still in the family. Other cars restored/worked on along the way
include 69 Triumph GT6, various MGs, 59 Austin Healey 100/6, 67 Mustang
convertible, Austin Healey H Production race car, MG Midget F Production race
car, and a 58 Warwick Peerless. Currently have in the shop a 74 Mini, 73 MG
Midget G Production racecar, 55 Austin Healey 100/4 (under restoration), and a
48 Ford Business Coupe (step son's street rod project). Plus, my new wife has a
35 Ford 5 window coupe street rod in the garage.
Now I'm embarking on the build of an Ambro. This started with Joe helping me to
sell a TR3 engine and gearbox. We got to discussing projects and we began to
talk about the Ambro. I'll be heading down to AR on June 22nd to pick up a TR4
rolling chassis in order to get started. Needless to say, I still have the
engine and gearbox.
I like to drive and particularly race the cars I build. I've been part of the
Madison Sports Car Club for years. That's where I started doing autox in a 73
MG Midget. Sold that car to buy a dedicated autox MG Midget. Ran that a couple
of years and then stripped it to the shell and rebuilt it into an F Production
racecar and went wheel to wheel racing with the Midwestern Council of Sports
Car Clubs. Sold that car along the way and now have a 73 MG Midget GP car.
Once the Ambro is completed, I'll be joining the ranks of the VSCDA and SVRA to
race with them. The initial goal is to have the car ready for the VSCDA's
Spring Break Driver's school weekend. Hopefully with the help of a few friends
we'll meet that goal.
Professionally I'm an IT worker. I work for the State of Wisconsin and support
the state's data communications infrastructure.
Thanks and see you all at the tracks.

Second! Anyone daft (um, er, brilliant) enough to build another
Ambro deserves our support.
