Could be that the fuel was chilled in the refueling rig thinking that 
the fuel would warm up to within the allowable temp range in the car by 
the time it had to be measured. In the Trans-Am days Roger Penske's team 
used to put dry ice in the refueling rig to chill the fuel. Cold fuel is 
more dense, takes up less space so you essentially get more fuel per 
gallon. At one Trans-Am race the cars unexpectedly had to run an extra 
pace lap or two and the Penske boys were really worried the fuel tank in 
Donohue's Camaro would split from the cold fuel expanding faster than it 
could be used. Just one more "Unfair Advantage".
