A good used crank properly race prepared, deep case nitrided and ground =
with the proper radii on the journals, is very reliable at power outputs =
of up to 165 hp as long as the revs are kept below 6800 rpm. The weak =
link in bottom end is the connecting rod. For use over 6,000 rpm they =
need to be replaced with steel billet rods.=20

  FOT:
Thank to the many of you who gave me good advice on pistions after I =
discovered that I had burned holes in two of them in my TR-4A at the =
Wine Country Classic.=20
Now as we are rebuilding it was discovered that the crank is cracked =
and must also be replaced. I am told the options are a used one =
reground or a new off the shelf billet crank. Thougths and advice.
Hope everyone at the Glen had a good time.
  Ron Jacobs
  Western Eagle Racing.=20
