Jim,

Lot's of us are members of the VTR and also our local Triumph clubs which a=
re for the most part Chapters of the VTR. I believe one of the requirements=
for becoming a chapter is to hold an annual event, which we seem to be doi=
ng with the Kastner Cup. Although it wouldn't help the autocrossers and hil=
l-climbers on the list, any additional promotion that would result from an =
"FOT Chapter" of the VTR putting more Triumphs out to race for the Kastner =
Cup gets my vote. On the other hand I think there is some provision for a m=
onthly newsletter and as a loosely organized group with no dues, rules etc.=
I don't think we want that kind of obligation.

Speaking of annual events, the Texas All British Car Day, my local club's (=
Hill Country Triumph Club) annual event is this weekend near Austin Texas. =
We are in our 18th year and this show was created specifically to meet the =
VTR requirements. If you are going to be in the area we have a rallye Satur=
day afternoon and a participant's choice car show Sunday. We had 144 cars l=
ast year. Contact me directly for info. As always I'll be bringing my racec=
ar to promote vintage racing.

Andy,

To what point?

When I purchased my first Spitfire ('73 1500) in 1989 I'd asked a friend fa=
miliar with the scene if there were any clubs to look at. I was told of on=
e national club ( VTR) but told they were only focused on the side curtain =
TRs.

My first call to a VTR officer in central NJ kinda confirmed that idea.

To my knowledge most of the factory efforts post sidecurtain cars went into=
the Spitfires.. not forgetting the Group 44 TR6s and the TR7/TR8s.

There are members on this list who are die hard VTR members. There are fol=
ks on this list who maybe are a bit... ambivalent about the VTR. At best.

So... as a former VTR president.. what are you proposing? And what are the=
 requirements, and dues?

I rule nothing out before looking at it.. Maybe I won't like what I see th=
ough.

Cheers,

Jim

Gee, Dean, you're just a kid. My VTR member number is 113. ;-)

This does raise an interesting possibility, were FoT members so inclined: p=
erhaps we could become some sort of "Special Chapter" or "Affiliate" of VTR=
?
