Duh.
FWIW, in thermodynamics, entropy is a measure of the randomness of a
system, it's sort of the opposite of order. I use it as the reason why
my garage is always messy--it's just entropy. Doesn't seem to work
that well with Diane, but I think the theory has a certain elegance.
In information theory it's kind of the opposite of order as well,
though it's more like the amount of information that can't be
accounted for because of randomness. As always, the textual
definitions are vague while the equations are not.
Given those definitions i really didn't get Peter's use of the term,
except perhaps that fiddling with these cars diminishes the nature of
what they originally were. Seems like we are mostly working against
entropy, preventing the cars from turning into random piles of iron
oxide.
