The lists at Team.Net have a size limit placed on messages sent to them.
Here's a perfect example of why this is so. And of course I am quite
aware of the irony here. Bob Dylan once sang "fearing not I'd
become my enemy in the instant that I preach" so I'll press on.

In the traffic about close ratio gear sets, one message *could* have been
this, enclosed in the first set of '===='

====

> Unfortunately that part number was for a differential, not a gear set.
> They have no TR gear sets.

Bummer. Sure looked like a good deal. too good.

====

Short, sweet, to the point, just the one line response and the line that
prompted
the response right at the top, making it easy to follow. What we got,
however,
was not so simple. Page WAY down to the next set of '====' for my comments:

====

Bummer. Sure looked like a good deal. too good.

So how many of the lines included in this response as it was sent to the
list were actually needed? How many just wasted disk space, filled up
quotas on recipients' mailboxes, caused unneeded work by the list
archiver,used up bandwidth sending out bits we've already seen several
times and served no purpose whatsoever?

What, exactly, are the benefits of not editing replies?
