I would suggest padding only the areas that your helmet or limbs could come 
into contact with in a crash.  Use the SFI padding that feels hard but absorbs 
the forces rather than bouncing back.  You want your passenger to be safe too 
so it would make sense to add a 5-pt harness for the passenger and make it Hans 
friendly in case of a head-on smack.
