Two issues I read here. You developed a leak at the head gasket left
side. Front or rear? Are you sure or is it just a valve cover leak?

You blew by into the catch can. Not uncommon. Did you get happy with the
RPM? Where is your crankcase vented? Sock little 1/2" connection?
Anywhere else?

If you start getting the revs up you need a lot more ventilation than that
stock hole. I run a 1" hose off of the valve cover and still pump some oil
sometimes at the high end. Do you have the auxilary feed to the rockers?
Stock or roller? Who's rollers? Is the aux feed plugged to a tiny
orifice?

Lot's of details here to make this lump of iron work......

Friends, I need some advice.
71 GT6 6 cyl vintage race car . At present running triple 40 mm Webers.
After
two races last year and one test day last Friday on a rebuilt engine, we
have
developed an oil leak at the head gasket on the left side of the engine.
After the test day I noticed the 1 qt filtered oil catch can plumbed from
rocker cover was full, indicating blow by ? Should I install a new head
gasket? more crank case ventilation? build another motor?
Thanks
