I use bronze guides from BFE and clearance them to .003 - .004 with no
issues. The ones from British Frame & E are rounded on one end to help
fuel/air & exhaust flow. I don't have problems with bronze guides
with the proper clearance.
So, with iron guides can/should we run tighter clearances?

Moss sells in Europe aluminium-bronze guides in their TT range.
Clearance is 0.0035'' according to TR Enterprises in the UK, they use these.
Fitted in my (Tr3) head and reamed to 0.0033'', engine still on the bench so
no ROE (return of experience).
Any thoughts/comments?
Thank you and cheers!
Alex

I was about to make a post very similar to Greg's posting. I explored this
with my trusted machinist after watching several instances of stuck valves
in
TR4 heads. He explained that it was the silicon-bronze guides that were
causing all the trouble and recommended going to the manganese-bronze as
Greg has stated. I've had no issues with that advice. Knock on Wood ;-))
