To whom may be concerned:

I am hereby submitting my application for membership to the Friends of
Triumph. I think it is a mere possibility that with a few years of counsel and
servitude I could be an asset to the organization.

Please allow me to expound on why it might not be a completely grievous
decision to induct me into the fold.

1. I am the Automobilist. I obtained my first car at age three. I believe
this qualifies me as the person who has owned a car for a greater percentage
of his life than anyone with a quarter mile or so. The beast that started it
all: a 1940 Pontiac coupe, left to me by my dear late grandmother. I kept the
Pontiac until I turned 16, then did a "schlock" restoration on it, of
extremely poor quality. Shortly afterward, I sold the car to a rube, and
bought a 1968 Mustang GTCS. By the time I had turned 21, I had owned 22 cars.
List upon request.

2. I learned to drive in a 1952 MG TD. In 1990, I somehow convinced my
aged father to let me "borrow" the MG and "fix it up". Three years later, my
wife and I had struggled through a complete restoration. Regrettably (for my
father) the car turned out perfect, and was never returned to him. Pity. Most
recently, the beautiful TD was our beautiful daughter's wedding getaway car.

3. I write an extremely good automotive blog, with over three followers.
Impactful, insightful, and self-absorbed.

4. I am a member of the well known Secret Car Club. As you undoubtedly are
aware, this is by invitation only. It is non-marque-denominational, and
exceedingly posh. We conduct many extremely exciting runs & events, often
involving lemon or German chocolate cake.

5. As a retired airline captain, (although still really quite young) I
have commanded large, very large conveyances with many people eating peanuts
and drinking soda in the cabin. I was actually quite good at this.

6. I have almost owned a Triumph in the past. In high school, I stole,
borrowed my brother in law's TR4A, and drove it until he found out about it a
couple weeks later.

7. I do own a Triumph currently. A beautiful blue GT6 Mk3. 1971 vintage.
Purchased from one Steve Smith, of the Las Vegas, Nevada, Smiths. Apparently,
Mr. Smith fancies himself as a sort of Triumph hobbyist, and holds certain
acclaim in vintage racing circles. Seemed like a decent fellow to me. I have
a scheme to have the GT6 properly prepared, and then somehow achieve vintage
racing domination with it. Or, possibly complete a race weekend without it
puking its guts out.

8. I have met many Triumph owners of high (and low) acclaim: Kas Kastner,
Jerry Barker, Joe Alexander, John Nikas, Joe Siam, Chuck Gee, etc.

Please take my application under serious consideration. If a small cash
donation ($5-10 or so) is needed to grease the skids of membership, so be it.
I also may know some people who can get things "done", if that helps.

Respectfully submitted,

Edward E. Dunn
