For what it's worth, our TR4 had been set up for racing and raced somewhat
extensively in the early 80's and we think previously.  It had homemade
traction bars on it when we got it.  I asked Jack Drews what he thought of
them and whether we should re-install them when we built the car.  He said
that he had tried them and unless you get the geometry right on during the
motion of the axle, which I think was parallel to the spring pivot and axle,
they caused more problems than they solved.  He took his off and advised us
not to re-install them.  We did not and we like the way the car handles.
