I believe I have 'Mueller' made axles on my Spitfire. One side has quite a =
bit of play. The other side=2C the yoke that attaches to a spicer ujoint at=
the diff was welded to the axle. That yoke has cracked along the weld line=
. This yoke has 10 splines and is secured with a circlip around the axle sh=
aft.

Other racing axles I have seen have a 1/4 bolt drilled through the yoke and=
 shaft.

Based on the attached pictures=2C should I (a) look to replace the entire s=
etup (b) have a machine shop drill for a 1/4" bolt or (c) something else al=
l together.=20

The axle at the hub appears to be fine.=20

This car has a long racing history with logbook back to the early 70s.

There is an old post with similar axles but I didn't see what the resolutio=
n was.

Thanks for the help.
