This car is a TR3 Beta. 3 to 5 of them were made as prototypes in 1959. W=
ell before the TR4A IRS. My memory was just refreshed of these cars from r=
eading Bill Piggott's Triumph TR book. Wide bodies were made to fit the de=
veloping TR4 frame, which was still a solid axle but it had ring and pinion=
steering. The leading edge of the doors were wider for a smooth transitio=
n to the wider fender. =20
The TR4 body design had not yet been completed, but the TRS was being devel=
oped has it's prototype.
The TR3B is a TR3A with a TR4 engine and trans that got the TCF prefix in t=
he VIN instead of the TR2-3s TS prefix.=20
