My data is a little dated, but when I was racing my TR-4 I always used the=
steel competition head gasket, which was supplied by the factory as part o=
f the decompression kit for cars destined for Europe, which did not have th=
e required octane in their fuel.=C2=A0 I used a regional product called "Ga=
ska-Cinch", which was recommended by an old racer/friend from the St, Louis=
area.=C2=A0 I started using it in about 1980, and for the next 17 years, n=
ever had a failure.
More recently, I rebuilt the engine in my TR-3 (street car). and used a hea=
d gasket by Cometic.=C2=A0 They normally make head gaskets for=C2=A0 stock =
cars and drag racers, so I=C2=A0 was surprised that they would make one for=
a TR-3/4.=C2=A0 They might also make one for a TR-6.=C2=A0 It is a steel, =
multi-layer gasket, but it has worked fine.=C2=A0 Going on about 5 years no=
w on a 10.5"1 compression TR-3/4 engine.
For what it's worth, that's my experience.
Jack
