I'll second the suggestion for having your mobile about, though I'll admit
to having had a cell phone on my person when I tore my achilles tendon in
half working in the shop last Labor Day. However, the 10 on 10 pain kinda
took over and I totally forgot it and hopped/limped/crawled to the house
(after probably 5 minutes on the floor)  to get the spouse because I didn't
even think of it. She thought I was having The Big One for a few seconds
until I managed to blurt out what had happened.

Now, nearly 5 months later I'm walking normally, still in PT, and have a
really nice scar to scare children with. ;)
