No one can tell you what the optimum tire pressure should be because there =
are just too many variables. I can say the the best pressure for your tires=
is dictated by taking the temps at 3 spots across the tire coming off trac=
k. If they are hotter in the center you have too much pressure, if they are=
hotter on the inside and outside then you need more pressure. Most tires r=
un hotter on the inside because of camber, caster and or toe settings, if t=
his is the case the center number sis optimal between the inner and outer n=
umber. Don't be surprised if all 4 tires are different and they will vary b=
etween tracks as well.
Happy tuning!

interesting, but still does not specify the optimum tread temperature
in current model racing with both slicks and semi slicks, there is a wide r=
ange between tyre makers and compounds, with many racers trying several bef=
ore settling on something that works for them
very few racers here use Hoosiers
most "old" cars with small engines/limited HP, seem to struggle to getto th=
e optimum tread temperature, which=C2=A0is often 60-70C.
Sometimes, we have had to decrease tyre width to get the temperature up to =
'sensible" values

In regards to my question regarding temperature operating range for a 225/5=
0 R15 Hoosier Speedster tire, I have the following from Jess Speer/Hoosier:
For my car weighing 2035 lbs, hot tire pressure should be in the 26-28 lbs =
range.=20
