On my TR6 race motors (I=E2=80=99ve run 133 events, about 10000 miles), =
I never ran external oil lines and only experienced rod bearing problems =
twice, both were not associated with starved bearings, but builder =
error. I don=E2=80=99t recall ever having a main bearing failure.=20

I=E2=80=99ve never seen a manufactured oil manifold, most I=E2=80=99ve =
seen are put together with a bunch of tees. I think it would be easy =
enough to weld up a manifold out of pipe and fittings.

I think attention should be paid to the oil pump in particular. =20

I=E2=80=99ve taking mine and cleaned up the castings to flow smoother =
and have checked all the tolerances to make sure they=E2=80=99re with in =
spec (blueprinted), there is someone who is offering blueprinted oil =
pumps for the TR6 and maybe a gasket between the oil pump and block =
would help.

Inquiry about oil system for TR6 Race Engine.

Seems like this guy is a candidate for FOT.

Joe,

=20

Thanks for the follow up. Actually, it is an auxiliary external oil =
system for the main bearings. I am exploring this as I understand the =
main bearings in the TR6 do not receive adequate oil flow in race =
conditions. I currently have a BMW Spec E46 330Ci which has a robust =
engine and oil system. So, the TR6 race engine is a new project for me. =
  I owned a =E2=80=9970 MG Midget and =E2=80=9970 TR6 =E2=80=9Cback in =
the day=E2=80=9D, but were street driven.

=20

Attached are excerpts from the most recent version of Kastner=E2=80=99s =
Triumph preparation manual (pages 130-135). I included the section on =
oil pumps through oil sump. In the book, there is a discussion about =
the external distribution hoses on the GT6, he mentions that he =
=E2=80=9Cstopped all oil from going to the normal openings to the main =
gallery=E2=80=9D. Also, I understand the black manifold in one of the =
pictures =E2=80=9Cmeters=E2=80=9D the oil flow. One of the pictures =
shows a feed line (the large black braided line) as going to the =
accusump. It is this black oil manifold that I cannot find a source or =
enough information even to ensure constructing it properly. I want to =
avoid simply having a tube with fittings made, then find it does not =
work as intended.=20

=20

With regards to an oiler for the rocker arms, I see that there is heavy =
debate in most of the forums, many implying that it would starve the =
main bearings. There seems to be no consensus.

=20

Anything you can provide would be helpful.

=20

Thanks again,

=20
