I just had had my first conversation with the VARAC event chair for the
VARAC Vintage Grand Prix. Here is what I know.

Triumphs will run with their appropriate VARAC run group. We will not be
running as one group all weekend, as we did at Lime Rock. I'll explain
how VARAC does it in a later post, but the easiest way to describe it is
bracket racing! It is an absolute hoot, trust me!!!

At this point, we are a go for the Kastner Cup race on Saturday
afternoon, and another all-Triumphs Reunion Race Sunday morning!

Entries are open to all Triumph powered race cars, but I am waiting on
the call if someone wants to bring a current SCCA spec car. I do not
expect it will be an issue, but the event chair needs to chat with the
Race Director on how this will work. VARAC has some Modern/Modern
Classic groups that cars prepped beyond vintage spec will most probably
run with.

Regarding paddock space, those of us who have been going to the event
for years are aware of the area inside of Turn 1 that we typically
paddock in. This is a prime paddock location, and VARAC is happy to give
us the entire space. However, depending on our car count, it could turn
out to be too small. I have requested the exact measurements and will
try to do a paddock setup like we had at Lime Rock, assigned spaces
based on the size of your tow rig. If we can all fit in this paddock
area, great. If we are real close, I might have to put a couple people
in adjacent paddock areas. Or, if we just have too many people for the
area, VARAC is prepared to give us a different location in the paddock
for our exclusive use. This is going to be a moving target until we get
a better handle on car count.

To answer Lyman's question, there will not be room in the Triumph
paddock for three extra RV's, but you will be able to park them close to
us, nothing like the situation at Lime Rock where you needed a ride to
get from your race car to your living room!

The entry fee will be $750 Canadian (US$540!) if you sign up before
12/31/25, and the earlybird discount ends Jan 1 and the fee goes to $850
Canadian. A bargain. And they don't charge your credit card until
several weeks before the event, so no worries there. If you go to the
last minute and need to cancel, they will give you a credit for the full
amount you have paid.

Anybody who had never run the track is REQUIRED to run the Thursday test
day. Yes, they will be watching and evaluating the first timers, but I
have never heard of a credentialled racer being told they didn't pass
muster. Trust me, you will want some laps on the track before any green
flag drops!

Be prepared for a ton of track time. Friday, two practice sessions, then
the last race of the day is the MG/TR Challenge race. I suspect my
4-year winning streak of this race will end next year, bring on the
TR8's! Saturday we will have two group races and the Kastner Cup race.
Sunday we have two group races, the Kastner Reunion Race, and perhaps
another special race at the end of the day.

You are going to burn a lot of fuel, and race fuel is VERY expensive in
Canada. Everybody brings their own race fuel from the US.

There are no tire vendors at the track to purchase tires. There is a
shop onsite that can service tires you bring. The track has several very
high-speed sweepers that can be pretty tough on tires, so plan
accordingly. I recall back on 2003 several racers ran out of tires by
Sunday and were scrounging for decent race rubber.

I know, long post, lots on information. Stay tuned for more as time goes
on!

Looking forward to seeing everybody in Canada, eh!
