For me the competion at Mosport is not the other entries, it=E2=80=99s the t=
rack. It=E2=80=99s the most intimidating track I=E2=80=99ve ever raced on, a=
nd I suspect I=E2=80=99ve covered more tracks than 99.9% of amateur
racers. I wouldn=E2=80=99t spend ten seconds worrying about what group I=E2=
=80=99m in. I=E2=80=99d be too busy trying to grow a third nut so I could dr=
ive the track close to my limit without sitting too long in the car after ea=
ch session trying to decide if I=E2=80=99m still having fun.
Off-camber, blind, downhill turns that you can=E2=80=99t touch your brakes o=
r steer to correct for even a minor error if you=E2=80=99re actually at comp=
etitive speed. I loved it, hated it, had the shit scared out of me, and neve=
r did a single corner the same way twice. I
have no recollection of where I finished in the group I raced with=E2=80=94=
probably somewhere in the back of the pack. A very unusual place for Peyote,=
which almost always got put in a group that should have easily beaten it, b=
ut almost never did.
