Hi Jeff,
TR3 and TR4 are basically the same, with slight and insignificant variation=
s. TR4A is slightly different and improved. =20
TR4A has a horizontal/level flat with a number stamped just above the numbe=
r 1 cylinder intake port. The number is 511695. It's easy to see. I think=
the latest TR4A heads also had aluminum push rod tubes. So some TR4A head=
s had steel tubes and later got aluminum. Other than that all 511695 stamp=
ed heads were the same. =20
The earlier heads had 3/8" exhaust valve stems and 5/16" intakes. TR4A had=
5/16" stems on both intake and exhaust. I believe the early heads used 3 =
springs on the exhaust valve as well. =20
