    You might try rubbing alcohol as well as the mineral spirits.  It is a
little nicer to work with.  Which ever works best you will need lots of
patience as you slowly and carefully soak and peel or scrape the paper and
residue from the plastic.  If the part is really 25 years old it could be a
long job.  I use my finger nail as it doesn't scratch the plastic.  A paper
towel is abrasive enough to put micro scratches in the plastic so use an old
t-shirt.  A product called Bestine Rubber Cement Thinner from the art supply
store will be useful soaked in the t-shirt to clean off the last residue
after the majority of the paper is gone.  This is a useful  but hazardous
solvent, have good ventilation and avoid excessive skin contact. Last a two
part polish / cleaner made for acrylic should finish it off.  I hope this
